Poetzl Scholarship
The Sacramento Philatelic Society (SPS) has established a scholarship program at the behest of a special benefactor, Mr. Charles Poetzl, a stamp dealer who was a longtime member of the SPS. The purpose of this scholarship is to assist young philatelists, primarily within the SPS family, in their quest for a post secondary education.
01/05/2023 is the next deadline for scholarship applications.
Attention all student age stamp collectors/philatelists. If you’re going to be a college student during Fall 2023, then be sure to read the announcement below.
$1,000 is available to any philatelist residing within the Greater Sacramento metropolitan area who is at least 17-years old, but not older than 25-years old at the time of nomination. The applicant must be a full-time student, in an accredited community college or an accredited four-year college or university, by the fall of 2023. All winners will be presented at the Sacramento Philatelic Society’s first meeting in April of 2023.
Applicants for The Charles Poetzl SPS Scholarship will be evaluated by the SPS Scholarship Board based upon the application, an official transcript of grades, and a 500 word essay. Each $1,000 scholarship will be issued to an accredited college or university upon notification from the registrar of the student’s official enrollment in classes for the fall semester of 2023.
Applicants must adhere to the use of the application form, so that we may judge all applicants fairly.
The application form may be obtained from the SPS website: www.sacramentostampclub.org
